Wiltshire Life magazine has been serving the county since 1946. To celebrate this landmark event, we have revisited the very first issue from 1946, and created a bumper issue for you, a 116-page special with features exploring how life in in the county was 75 years ago. 

We open a window on post-war Wiltshire looking at the world through the eyes and stories of people from our towns and villages in 1946, we share recipes and fashion tips from our first issue in 1946 – a few things have changed in the intervening years! We explore the life ahead for troops returning to the county and prisoners of war who wished to remain; from Bowood to Longleat we discover the changing fortunes of the county’s country estates; and discover more about a time that helped to shape the Wiltshire we see today.
